A Message from your VP Administration, North

As the election season kicks into high gear, I face the upcoming campaigning with mixed feelings. For one, I am so thrilled to see the excitement and energy build around the elections. I am excited for the different and creative campaigns that each candidate will come up with. On the other hand, I will be sad to leave a place that has become so much a second home for me in the past year as an Executive, and the previous year as a part-time staff. Over the past year, HSF has become more than just where I work; it has become a place I truly look forward to going each and every day. My co-workers have become my friends and each day I learn something new about the college, about my job, and also, about myself.
Very quickly I realized that Vice President of Administration is a position based on service. It’s the opportunity to bring different services on campus and the chance to improve services that already exist. It’s also about being able to serve students in order to help them along their post-secondary journey.

A large part of my job is the various committees I sit on. On these committees I represent the voice of the students, and I can assure you that there is no better venue to have your voice heard. One of the most extraordinary things I have noticed through working with these committees is the dedication that Humber’s own admin have to the college, and most importantly to the students.

By no means is this job easy, and if I could advise the new candidates on one thing it would be this: be prepared to work for it. Be prepared to campaign your butts off. Be prepared to have busy schedules. Be prepared for the most interesting and rewarding job you could ask for. Be prepared for a unique experience and a brilliant opportunity.

The world is yours.

May the best candidate win.
