Hey Everybody!
As your VP Campus Life, I just want to say I had a blast this year… and it’s all thanks to you! Thanks for coming out to our biggest Frosh Week ever (who remembers the Trailer Park Boys, MSTRKRFT, and LMFAO!), for paricipating in all of our traditional annual events (Big Brother, iPod Battle, Hallowe’en Party), and checking out some of our brand new events this year as well (Amazing Race, Humber’s Got Talent, and look out for Dancing With The Staff). However, it’s not all about the big ticket events… we’ve also done a Life Skills Series (which includes hands-on workshops and guest speakers), Casino Days, Psychic Fairs, Food Tastings, Concerts, Game Shows, Tournaments, and the list goes on and on. And none of it could of happened without you – the students of Humber – so thank you again for supporting the HSF and all that we do!
So if you’re one of those students who absolutely loves our events and simply can’t get enough, and perhaps has a couple exciting new event ideas brewing in the back of their head… then you should grab a nomination package and run for VP Campus Life for the 2010-2011 school year! I’ve had such an awesome experience this year where I’ve had the opportunity to work with an amazing group of people, see some of my event ideas transform into reality, and truly enhance student life on campus. I’ve had the pleasure of meeting all kinds of students on campus, developing strong working relationships with both HSF and Humber staff, and sharing experiences to last a lifetime. The HSF has become like a second family to me, and I hope every student reading this can relate to that sentiment.
It isn’t all fun and games though as the VP Campus Life. You still have to worry about full time studies and all that entails (readings, homework, projects, exams, etc.), responsbilities as an executive and a board member on the HSF, overseeing the 60+ clubs on campus, sitting on various committees and advocating for students, and of course, your family and personal life. It can be a lot to juggle, and at times it’s very easy to slip into “HSF mode” and forget about everything else in your life. So for those of you aspiring to be future executives, consider this your fair warning: it will require excellent organizational and time management skills, strong discipline, an ability to work with a wide variety of people, and a high capacity for stress. Oh, and a passion for improving your fellow students’ experience here at Humber. After taking all of that into consideration, if you feel you are up to the challenge, then the best of luck to you – you will represent the future of Humber Students.
Confidently Yours,
Bryan Tran
